CKU Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the CKU Blog Hop! We’re excited to share with you projects that we hope get you excited about CKU Reunion, whether you’ve already registered, are planning to come, or wishing you were coming. The blog hop is from Friday, October 7th at 10:00 am MT until Saturday, October 8th at 10:00 am MT. If you get lost during the hop, come back here for the hop order (below). Have fun hopping!

1. Stacy Julian
2. Michelle Hill
3. Jodi Sanford
4. Kim Watson
5. Deena Wuest (You are here!)
6. Cindy Tobey
7. Stacy Croninger

If you’re following the CKU Blog Hop, you just came from Kim Watson’s blog. If you stumbled upon this blog post and want to see all the CKU Blog Hop participants, make sure to go to Stacy Julian’s blog to start from the beginning.

We’re so excited about CKU and we hope you can join us at CKU Reunion in San Diego, CA October 27-29 for a weekend of creating, connecting, and inspiration. You’ll spend one day completing an album that will be ready for photos when you get home and another day creating in four 90 minute classes including mixed media canvas art, fabric creations, jewelry, and more. Plus, there are evening crops, bonus classes, goodie bags, a commemorative tote, and so much more all for only $295! And you’ll be learning from some of the industry’s finest such as Lisa Bearnson, Teresa Collins, Stacy Julian, Michelle Hill, Megan Hoeppner, and other inspiring teachers. You know you want to come, so register today so you’ll have plenty of time to pack your supplies for the trip. See you in San Diego!

But before you start packing, I wanted to give you a taste of the goodness that will be waiting for you! Megan Hoeppner will be teaching an amazing album track titled, “Got Your Number” featuring an incredible 11 page 12″ x 12″ album that counts the ways numbers impact your everyday life. You’ll look back on important numeric events in your life, such as memorable milestones (marriage, graduation, etc.), and significant (and playful) quantities (the number of children you have, the amount of times you indulge in your favorite vice every day, etc.). And you’ll have a blast personalizing your album with numbers unique to you-your home address, your lucky number, etc. Plus, as you add up the numbers of your life, you’ll learn innovative techniques such as coloring with Twinkling H20s, stitching, and misting all while using Pink Paislee’s NEW Daily Junque line. Top it off with clever ideas for using unexpected supplies, such as cupcake liners, washi tape, bakers twine, and more, and you’ve got one fresh album. Whatever your digit, this album is rated a 10.0 for fun and creativity! So to celebrate and get warmed up for this amazing album track, let’s share some creative ways to use numbers in our layouts. Shall we?

Create a mini album on the five senses and the memories they trigger for you. Create just five pages for each of the senses and you have a memorable 25 page album in no time!

Don’t forget to record your age and the feelings that accompany it. Do you feel your age? Younger? Older? And why?

Go big and go bold with an oversized number title incorporated into your design and journaling.

Note To Self

Over a year later, my self advice resonates louder than it did the first time around.

Good stuff.

Free Digital Templates + Digi Text Tip

With the holidays right around the corner, we look forward to the amazing joys and blessings that come along with them. Our creative time, however, tends to get neglected this time of year. Visit me at Creating Keepsakes to learn how to be proactive and scrapbook ahead of time so you can relax and enjoy the holidays. While you’re there, download a free set of 18 Photoshop or Elements templates that will make the job a snap!

Simply drop in your photos, add quick captions and you’re done! Or take it a step further and add digital patterned paper and embellishments to customize as much or as little as you’d like. You’ll see how quickly the pages accumulate with minimal effort!

And since we’re creating these albums in a digital format, we can reproduce the entire album in a couple clicks of the mouse. How cool is that? Print an additional copy to give to Grandparents for Christmas or resize the album to 6×6 or even 4×4 and slip into your purse to carry your memories with you wherever you go! On the post, I’ve also included one of my favorite digital tips on layering text directly on photographs. Be sure to check it out, download the templates and get proactive today!
